USING CINEMA HOUND

Terms of Service

Last updated: 4 October 2026

Using Cinema Hound

Cinema Hound is operated by Simon and provides movie discovery tools, catalogue information and personal Saved, Seen and Trash lists. These terms apply to the website and Android app. By using the service, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, stop using it. Where consent from a parent or guardian is required, obtain it before using account or contact features.

Cinema Hound helps you find movies; it does not stream films or grant access to copyrighted films. Recommendations do not guarantee that a film will suit you, be appropriate for a particular age, or be available in your country.

Accounts and your lists

Guest website lists are stored in the browser. When account features are enabled, Google sign-in lets you save website lists on the server and access them from other browsers. You are responsible for protecting your Google account and for activity you authorise. Sign out on shared devices.

The Android app works independently and does not automatically synchronise its lists with website accounts. Keep exported backups of lists you value. Clearing browser data, uninstalling an app or losing access to an account can affect your access to saved information.

You may request account deletion through the contact form. We may need to verify account ownership first. The Privacy Policy explains how personal information is handled.

Acceptable use

Use the service lawfully and respect other people’s rights. Do not attempt unauthorised access, interfere with security, send malicious code, impersonate someone, submit threats or unlawful material, or use automated requests that disrupt the service.

Use Cinema Hound through its website and Android app as an individual end user for your personal movie discovery and library. Do not use the service to systematically access, scrape, harvest, extract, download or collect catalogue records or any substantial part of the catalogue, whether with automated tools or repeated manual requests. Do not use data obtained through the service to build, enrich, publish or supply a catalogue, dataset, index or competing service, or for commercial data collection. Do not access internal APIs or catalogue-sync endpoints except through features provided in the app, or bypass rate limits, access controls or anti-automation measures.

Search engines may crawl publicly accessible pages only to create search listings that link to Cinema Hound, in accordance with our robots.txt. This permission does not allow bulk extraction or reuse of catalogue records.

These restrictions govern use of Cinema Hound as a service. They do not claim ownership of third-party material or remove any rights that its source licence grants directly. Those licences continue to apply to their material and must be followed.

If we reasonably believe that an account or request violates these terms, threatens the service or its users, infringes rights, or creates a legal or security risk, we may rate-limit or challenge requests, temporarily block access, suspend or close a website account, or restrict online app services. We will choose a response proportionate to the issue. We may act without advance notice where urgent action is reasonably needed to protect people, data, rights or the service; otherwise, where practical and lawful, we will explain the reason and how to request a review. Serious or repeated violations may result in permanent account closure. Account data is handled under the Privacy Policy and applicable law.

If you submit a contact message, provide accurate reply details and only material you are entitled to share. Feature suggestions and bug reports are voluntary; they do not create an obligation to respond, implement a feature, pay compensation or enter a commercial arrangement. Commercial arrangements require a separate agreement.

Content and intellectual property

Movie information comes from third-party sources and may be incomplete, outdated or incorrect. Popularity reflects measured interest rather than audience ratings. Descriptions may include spoilers or adult material.

Cinema Hound’s branding and original artwork remain the property of their owner. Catalogue data and text may be reused under the applicable source licences, which are identified on the Credits page and in source links. These terms do not restrict rights granted by those licences. Film titles, images and third-party trademarks remain subject to their respective rights.

Sending a suggestion does not transfer ownership of your other work. You allow us to review your message and use the ideas it contains to improve the service, without an expectation of payment unless separately agreed.

Availability and external services

We aim to keep Cinema Hound useful, but do not promise uninterrupted availability, error-free information, permanent storage or compatibility with every device. Features or the service may change or be discontinued. Where practicable, we will give notice of significant changes affecting stored account information and an opportunity to export it.

Google sign-in and external websites are operated by others and have their own terms. A link does not imply endorsement. We are not responsible for content or services controlled by third parties.

Your legal rights and responsibility

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded, including applicable Australian Consumer Law guarantees.

Subject to those rights, the service is provided as available, without additional guarantees about accuracy, suitability or continued availability. To the extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for indirect or consequential loss arising from use of the service. This does not exclude liability that the law requires us to accept.

These terms are governed by the laws of South Australia, Australia, subject to any mandatory laws and rights that apply where you live. They do not prevent you from using a court or regulator available under applicable law.

Contact and changes

For service questions, complaints, rights concerns or commercial enquiries, use the contact form. Ordinary enquiries do not carry a promise of a response; this does not affect obligations imposed by law.

Updated terms will be published here with a revised date. Material changes will be explained on the website where appropriate. Changes do not remove rights that arose before the change.

Usage measurements

Cinema Hound uses first-party analytics to understand website growth, feature usage and catalogue refresh requests. Collection and retention are described in the Privacy Policy.
