On August 14, 1945, the United Nations at war with the Axis powers celebrated VJ Day, the day on which Japan surrendered in the Second World War. While Canadians celebrated in the streets, troops ships begin bringing back Canadian military forces, ready to come back to a peaceful and prosperous Canada. Great mobilization of the Canadian domestic workforce in mining, agriculture and industrial sectors had led to a significant war effort.

During, and immediately after the war in Iraq, a fim crew travelled six thousand miles from Chicago to Los Angeles, via Dallas and Las Vegas, (with a final brief visit to New York), gathering interviews on the road about the war. The responses, often shocking, sometimes violent, appalled, heartfelt, but never banal, show the radical pro and anti-war polarization of a country, and give an updated and unusual image of what America has become since 11 September 2001.

The film begins in 1967 with extremely exotic and unusual scenes of a mast , followed by a scene of Baba washing the feet of lepers, and then an interview of Meher Baba by van Gasteren. The film ends with a much older van Gasteren returning to India three decades later in a reunion with Eruch Jessawala who originally interpreted Baba's gestures. Meher Baba has long died as the now more mature men exchange words and photos.
