Two teenagers from opposing social worlds fall in love as a theft accusation turns their families against their relationship.

The story

In the Paris region, Léo and Nora begin their first year of high school in the same class. Both are almost 16, but their lives differ sharply: Léo belongs to a well-off family, while Nora lives with her Algerian-origin family in a public housing estate. The teenagers fall in love. Their relationship is challenged when Nora’s older brother, a hypermarket stock handler, is suspected of stealing a valuable bottle. After Léo’s father, the hypermarket director, fires him, Nora’s brother learns who the director is and forbids Nora from seeing Léo. Léo’s father also objects to the relationship, setting the two families against the young couple.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

In the Paris region, Léo and Nora start their first year of high school and find themselves in the same class. They are the same age, almost 16, but come from very different, even opposing, backgrounds. He is the eldest son in a well-to-do family living in a spacious, comfortable house. His father is the director of the local hypermarket. She lives with her Algerian-origin family in a public housing estate where illegal dealings and strict moral codes prevail. Before long, Léo and Nora fall in love, as two teenagers can. One day, Nora’s older brother, who works as a stock handler at the hypermarket, is suspected of stealing a very valuable bottle. He denies the accusations and angrily lashes out verbally. The hypermarket director immediately fires him. When he discovers that the director is none other than his sister’s boyfriend’s father, he forbids Nora from seeing the boy any longer. At the same time, Léo’s father refuses to let his son see the sister of someone he considers a thug. Like modern-day Romeo and Juliet, Léo and Nora continue to love each other passionately despite the growing conflict between their respective families.
