The story
Jane Nichols is a woman who has served as a bridesmaid at 27 different weddings, often putting others' needs before her own. Her life takes a turn when her younger sister, Tess, returns from a trip and quickly becomes engaged to Jane's boss, George, whom Jane secretly loves. As Jane struggles with her unrequited feelings, she finds herself entangled with Kevin Doyle, a cynical reporter who is investigating her for a story. While Jane tries to navigate her feelings for George and the complications of her sister's upcoming wedding, she must also deal with the unexpected connection she forms with Kevin.

Jane Nichols has been a bridesmaid at 27 weddings, a role she embraced after her mother's death. When her sister Tess returns and gets engaged to Jane's boss, George, Jane is left heartbroken. She meets Kevin Doyle, a cynical reporter who is writing a story about her. As they bond, Jane is forced to help plan Tess's wedding. The plot thickens as Tess's lies about her intentions and the wedding details begin to surface. After a series of complications involving the wedding plans and her feelings for George, Jane realizes her love for him was unrequited. She eventually finds true love with Kevin, and they marry a year later in a ceremony where all 27 of the previous brides serve as bridesmaids, each wearing the dress Jane wore for them.
