After a decade of incarceration, the notorious Firefly family members are freed and embark on a violent journey to Mexico.

The story

Ten years after a high-profile police shootout, the murderous Firefly family members—Otis Driftwood, Baby Firefly, and Captain Spaulding—are being tried for their crimes. While Captain Spaulding is executed, Otis is sentenced to life in prison. However, Otis's half-brother, Foxy Coltrane, helps Otis escape from a chain gang. Once free, the duo plans to break Baby out of prison by kidnapping the warden's family and holding them hostage. After successfully smuggling Baby out, the trio decides to flee to Mexico to escape their past and Baby's deteriorating mental state.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

The film opens with news reports revealing that Baby, Otis, and Captain Spaulding survived a police shootout and were sentenced to life, with Spaulding being executed. Otis's half-brother, Foxy Coltrane, helps Otis escape from a chain gang where Otis kills another inmate, Rondo. While Baby unsuccessfully seeks parole, Otis and Foxy kidnap the family of prison warden Virgil Dallas Harper, forcing him to smuggle Baby out disguised as a guard. After freeing her, they kill the hostages and Harper. The trio flees to a small Mexican town celebrating the Day of the Dead, staying in a hotel. They are recognized by the owner, who alerts Rondo's son, Aquarius, who arrives with henchmen. After a series of skirmishes involving a local worker named Sebastian, the group is eventually outmatched and taken prisoner by Aquarius. In a final confrontation, Otis squares off against one of the men in a knife fight while Sebastian frees Foxy and Baby. The trio manages to overpower Aquarius, and the film ends with them immolating him before driving away.
