The story
As the town of Barrow, Alaska prepares for the annual month-long polar night, a stranger arrives from a large icebreaker ship. He begins sabotaging communication and transportation, including destroying a helicopter and killing sled dogs. Sheriff Eben Oleson and his deputy, Billy Kitka, investigate the sabotage while Eben's estranged wife, Stella, arrives in town. As darkness falls, the situation escalates rapidly. Eben and Stella must navigate the escalating threat as the town is cut off from the outside world, and a band of vampires from the ship prepares to launch an attack on the unsuspecting residents.

In the town of Barrow, Alaska, a stranger arrives from a ship and sabotages communications before a 30-day polar night begins. Sheriff Eben Oleson and his wife Stella are forced to deal with the escalating threat of a vampire invasion. After the vampires emerge, they slaughter many residents. Eben and Stella find a small group of survivors, including Jake, and hide in a house. They are eventually separated and reunited after various encounters with vampires. Eben eventually faces the vampire leader, Marlow, and after a series of sacrifices and battles, he manages to defeat Marlow. As the sun rises on the 30th day, Eben and Stella are the only survivors left, and Eben's body turns to ash in her arms as the light hits them.
