A Faustian pact to win back an ex-girlfriend turns into romantic chaos when the Devil’s trainee falls for Faust.

The story

Frank Faust makes a pact with the Devil, hoping to win back his girlfriend Jennifer by Walpurgis Night. The Devil’s trainee, Mephisto, helps him by taking the forms of various celebrities, and Faust is drawn into high society as he tries to get Jennifer back. Mistaken identities and suspicion complicate matters further, putting Faust’s chances with Jennifer at risk as the deadline approaches.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

The film is a modern version of Faust. Frank Faust makes a pact with the Devil to win back his girlfriend Jennifer by Walpurgis Night. The Devil’s “trainee,” Mephisto, transforms himself into various celebrities (including Heiner Lauterbach, Boris Becker, Verona Feldbusch, and Claudia Schiffer), with whom Faust is seen. As a result, Faust becomes part of high society and comes close to winning his girlfriend back. But Mephisto discovers his true sexual orientation. He falls in love with Faust and now wants him for himself. So he prevents the reconciliation by posing as Claudia Schiffer and pretending to have an affair with Faust. Faust, now suspecting Mephisto in every potential partner, even beats up his ex-girlfriend Susi because he mistakes her for Mephisto, only frightening Jennifer even more—until finally the Devil, Mephisto’s father, intervenes in person because he does not want to become a laughingstock throughout Hell. Meanwhile, Jennifer runs into her old admirer Ralf Bauer again. To prevent a liaison between them, Mephisto transforms himself into Faust, knocks Ralf Bauer out, and reconciles with Jennifer while impersonating him. Ralf takes revenge by also knocking Faust out and leaving with Jennifer. Faust follows them to a restaurant and asks Jennifer to marry him. Without thinking for long, she agrees. But time is running out: there is only one hour left until Walpurgis Night. So the Devil decides to transform himself into Jennifer and seduce Faust, in order to satisfy Hell. Just after Faust and “Jennifer” have reconciled, the real Jennifer appears, and Faust realizes who he has actually slept with. To buy Faust’s silence—after all, nobody must find out that the Devil also enjoys sex with men—he releases Faust from their pact, allowing him to be happy with Jennifer.
