A clumsy father and his teenage son embark on a chaotic road trip across the United States to reach a concert in Los Angeles.

The story

Max Goof is an average teenager who has a tense relationship with his clumsy and old-fashioned father, Goofy. On the last day of school, Max becomes popular after a daring performance and invites his crush, Roxanne, to a concert in Los Angeles. To curb Max's behavior, Goofy plans a fishing trip to Idaho. However, Max lies to Roxanne, telling her they are actually traveling to Los Angeles to see his idol, the pop star Powerline. The two set off on a road trip across the country, navigating various mishaps and a growing, complicated bond between father and son as they head toward the concert.

During their journey, they encounter Pete and P.J., and Max secretly alters their route. After a series of mishaps, including a confrontation at the Grand Canyon and a ride down the Colorado River, Goofy and Max reconcile.
