A fictionalized account of the real-life All-American Girls Professional Baseball League explores the lives of women who played during World War II.

The story

In 1988, Dottie Hinson attends a baseball exhibit where she sees former teammates, triggering a flashback to 1943. During World War II, as Major League Baseball faces closure, owner Walter Harvey establishes a women's league. Dottie, a catcher, is recruited by scout Ernie Capadino. Though she prefers a quiet life waiting for her husband to return from war, her sister Kit is desperate for adventure. The two sisters join the Rockford Peaches, a team managed by the cynical Jimmy Dugan. As the team navigates the challenges of the league and the pressures of the war, they must find their identity on and off the field.
