As the line between dreams and reality blurs, the group realizes that the entity is not just a figment of their imagination but a physical threat. Full plot (contains spoilers)
After Tina is murdered in her sleep, her friend Nancy begins to experience terrifying visions of a disfigured man named Freddy Krueger. Nancy discovers that Krueger was a child murderer who was burned alive by the parents of his victims, and he is now seeking revenge on their children. Nancy's mother, Marge, reveals that the teenagers' parents were accomplices to his death. As friends are picked off one by one, Nancy realizes that Krueger is fueled by fear. She eventually lures him into the real world using booby traps. After a final confrontation where she refuses to show fear, Krueger is defeated. The film ends with a twist where Nancy's survival is revealed to be a dream within a dream, though her friends are still alive in the final moments.
