The story

In a post-apocalyptic world, the Abbott family lives on an isolated farm in the middle of a forest in Millbrook, New York. They must navigate a landscape inhabited by blind extraterrestrial creatures that possess an acute sense of hearing. To survive, the family must remain silent at all times, utilizing American Sign Language to communicate and taking precautions like laying sand paths to avoid making noise. The story follows the family's struggle to protect their children while navigating the constant threat of the creatures, who have already claimed the lives of many humans.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

Sightless aliens with sharp hearing and impenetrable armored skin have taken over the planet. The Abbott family lives on an isolated farm in Millbrook, New York, surviving by remaining silent and using American Sign Language. The narrative follows the family's daily struggle to stay hidden. A pivotal moment occurs when a young son, Beau, is killed by an alien after a toy makes noise. Later, while Evelyn is pregnant with a fourth child, she goes into labor and accidentally alerts an alien. Lee and Marcus work to distract the creature while she gives birth. During a confrontation in a cornfield, Regan uses a malfunctioning hearing aid to create a high-pitched noise that causes an alien to retreat in pain. This discovery allows the family to use high-pitched sounds as a weapon. The film ends with the family prepared to defend themselves against an approaching pack of aliens.
