The story
After his heroic deeds on the planet G.O.R.A. earn him both friends and enemies, carpet seller Arif is targeted by Commander Logar, who sends him a million years into the past. Stranded in the Stone Age, Arif adapts to life among the cave dwellers with his characteristic confidence, introducing them to innovations such as buffets and fountains. But his overriding goal is to return to the present and his pregnant wife, Ceku. To build a time machine, he believes he must push his new society through technological progress at extraordinary speed, a plan that soon brings him into conflict with people whose ideas about progress differ from his own.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
Thanks to his heroic deeds, carpet seller Arif makes not only friends but plenty of enemies on the planet G.O.R.A. The time has come for him to feel the wrath of those enemies. Commander Logar sends Arif a million years into the past, to the Stone Age, in a time machine. There, thanks to his boundless self-confidence, Arif blends in with the people. Naturally, the encounter has a major impact on the cave dwellers, who get an early taste of civilization through innovations such as all-you-can-eat buffets and fountains. Although Arif quickly makes friends in the Stone Age, all he wants is to return to the present as soon as possible, to his pregnant wife, Ceku. To do so, he has no choice but to make dizzyingly rapid technological progress in order to build a time machine. His sole aim now is to usher his primitive contemporaries, one age at a time, into the technology of today—and even tomorrow—as quickly as possible. Arif’s accelerated evolutionary process begins to anger some Stone Age people, who have different ideas about progress. Because of the clash between civilizations, Arif soon faces a series of social challenges that do not fit the future he has envisioned.
