Full plot (contains spoilers)
Attila Ambrus, a little boy from Csíkszentlélek, is raised by his grandmother. His greatest wish is to become a hockey player. After his grandmother dies, his father gives Attila to his sibling. Later, Attila is admitted to a boarding school, but he is expelled after stealing a book. He is then sent to a juvenile detention center. During his compulsory military service, he defected to Hungary, where he managed to join the Dózsa hockey team. Needing money to obtain Hungarian citizenship, he began robbing post offices and banks. The smaller jobs grew increasingly serious, and he eventually found a partner in one of his teammates. The television program Kriminális regularly reported on the robberies, and it was from the show that the public learned the bank robber might down a glass or two of whisky before his heists. The name “the Whisky Robber” stuck to him on the program.
