Aber Doktor (1980)

The dentist Sebastian Flanke, a kind-hearted man in his later years, is appreciated for his selfless readiness to help in every kind of situation. In his spare time, he looks after an ice hockey team in his hometown of Potsdam. The team is coached by Sepp Koch. Dr. Flanke adores Biggi Koch, a former figure skater and figure-skating coach. But Biggi wants nothing to do with him, because Dr. Flanke is shy, clumsy, and awkward. So Dr. Flanke’s no-nonsense receptionist, Sister Agnes Obermann, steps in to help. She is always meddling in matters that are really none of her business, causing all sorts of confusion. The hockey player Thomas Obermann, a womanizer, is having an affair with the married Barbara Krause, whose husband Peter likes meeting friends at the pub and often does not come home until morning, drunk. Aunt Agnes repeatedly gets Thomas out of trouble, sometimes with Dr. Flanke’s help. She also wants to bring Thomas together with the figure skater Susanne Koch. Thomas has by now fallen in love with the young woman. But Aunt Agnes would like to keep Biggi Koch’s ex-husband, Sepp Koch, out of all this. Agnes wants to get Barbara and Peter Krause back together. However, Agnes’s well-intentioned efforts create such chaos that even she can no longer sort it out, and everyone involved proves to be very stubborn.
