As separation approaches, a devoted mother seeks security for her dependent daughter’s future.

The story

Tala and her daughter Abji have lived together for many years, effectively for all of Abji’s roughly 50-year life. Their close arrangement is nearing an end, however, as separation approaches. Abji is highly dependent on her mother because of her particular circumstances, and Tala spends the time she has left trying to secure a future for her daughter without her. The story centers on the mother’s efforts to prepare Abji for life after their separation.

Tala and Abji are a mother and daughter who have lived together for many years—as long as Abji’s life, about 50 years. But this situation cannot last, and the days of separation are approaching. This separation comes as Abji, because of her particular circumstances, is very dependent on her mother, while Tala spends the time she has left seeking security for Abji’s future—a future without her there.
