Full plot (contains spoilers)
A chest full of gold originating from Holocaust victims reveals a series of terrible secrets in the present day. This revelation changes forever the lives of Abraham, his family members, and a number of other residents of a small, sleepy village in Bavaria. A man has spent many years trying to hide his own Nazi past, but it soon comes back to haunt him when a comrade, now working as a truck driver, travels to Poland in the hope of finding gold he hid there many years ago. But his mother soon discovers a piece of this gold and immediately recognizes what it is. When the driver says that Jews, and their fate during the Second World War, mean nothing to him, his mother reveals his Jewish heritage to him: Many years earlier, his mother had worked as a housekeeper for a Jewish household, and the driver was a small child there whom she adopted during the Holocaust to save his life.
