African Race - Die verrückte Jagd nach dem Marakunda (2008)

Cologne Cathedral is in danger of collapsing. The situation is so serious that the city of Cologne has already applied to UNESCO to rename it “Pile of stones next to the train station.” By chance, archivist Sebastian Hellmann discovers an old text announcing the cathedral’s salvation. The coconut-sized Marakunda diamond, which had lent strength to one of the supporting columns, was stolen during a fire and is now in Africa. Sebastian is promptly sent to South Africa to bring the Marakunda back. What he doesn’t realize, however, is that many other characters are after the diamond too, and are on his trail. Sebastian gets help from adventurer Alex Jansen, one of the few people who will accompany someone through every danger. Among Hellmann’s pursuers are Igbur Mahrabi, the son of an Indian diamond magnate, and Vicky, a pilot who is rarely sober. The hapless duo Dragan and Alder have accidentally acquired an unwanted passenger. The contract thief Mara must face the love of a lion, and Cologne social worker Boris Penske risks becoming the main course for a cannibal tribe. At last, Sebastian and Alex reach the yoga cave, where they must face a quizmaster. They have to answer every question up to the “diamond question” to get the diamond—and avoid ending up, like many before them, as skeletons and skull decorations in the cave.
