The story
Deep within the secluded island village of Mandwa, the village chief aspires to set up a drug empire by borrowing land from villagers under false pretenses. The villagers are warned by a revered school teacher, Deenanath Chauhan, who advises against surrendering their lands. The chief's son, Kancha, plots to eliminate Deenanath, framing him for a crime. Deenanath is lynched by an angry mob. His son, Vijay, and pregnant wife, Suhasini, are forced to flee to Mumbai. Fueled by an unrelenting desire for vengeance against Kancha, Vijay joins the gang of Rauf Lala to gain power.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
After the lynching of his father Deenanath in Mandwa, Vijay and his wife Suhasini flee to Mumbai. Vijay joins the underworld gang of Rauf Lala, eventually becoming his trusted lieutenant. He secures a monopoly for Lala's syndicate and eventually seizes control of Lala's empire after conspiring to kill Lala's sons. Vijay immediately begins dismantling Lala's criminal operations involving the trafficking of teenage girls. This draws the attention of Kancha, who seeks an alliance. Vijay offers Kancha control of Mumbai in exchange for Mandwa, but Kancha demands the assassination of Commissioner Gaitonde. After a series of betrayals and deaths, including the death of Vijay's wife Kaali, Vijay makes a suicidal journey to Mandwa to face Kancha. He disables Kancha's gang with bombs and faces Kancha at the site of his father's lynching. After a brutal fight where Kancha overpowers him, Vijay finds new strength, injures Kancha, and hangs him from the same tree where his father died. Having avenged his father, Vijay succumbs to his injuries in Suhasini's arms.
