The story

Lucas, an American expat, works as an English teacher at a struggling small language school in a rural town of Chiba Prefecture, Japan. He lives modestly and dreams of buying an abandoned roadside café that he often passes, but with his meager salary, it's out of reach. Meanwhile, Ken, a half‑Japanese man raised by his uncle after his father's suicide and his mother's return to the United States, has worked since age fifteen at his uncle Nobu's construction business.
