The story
Alice is in a psychologically abusive relationship with her boyfriend, Simon. After taking a vacation with friends, she decides to reassess her relationship with Simon and attempts to break her codependency. When Simon allows her to go out for a rare evening at a bar with her two best friends, Tess and Sophie, the women notice her distress and constant anxiety. The group decides to go to a cottage for a weekend, and Alice lies to Simon about the location of her trip. During the getaway, the women bond while Alice struggles with the reality of her situation and becomes fixated on a local missing person case.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
Alice is in a psychologically abusive relationship with her boyfriend, Simon. During a trip to a cottage with her friends Tess and Sophie, she attempts to break her codependency. While at a convenience store, she becomes fixated on a flyer for a missing girl, Andrea. When Simon discovers her location via her phone, he demands she return. Tess and Sophie help Alice stay behind, and she joins a search party for the missing girl. Later, Simon arrives at the cottage and confronts her with news that the girl's body was found. The next morning, Simon tries to force Alice to leave with him. At a junction, Sophie intervenes by smashing the car's windshield, and Tess stands between Simon and Alice. Alice refuses to get back in the car, and Simon drives away alone, leaving her behind. The film ends with Alice riding a paddle board and taking a dive into the lake.
