A Fulda judge must apply the law in an eviction case that conflicts with her sense of justice.

The story

After being transferred from Frankfurt am Main, Judge Dr. Lena Kalbach has settled into Fulda, though tensions remain at home with her daughter Nike and court director Dr. Kästle wants her gone. In a new case, Lena must rule on property tycoon Canninenberg’s eviction suit against Christine Schrunz, a single mother who owns a shop. The legally required decision conflicts with Lena’s own sense of justice, and Teddy Klein, the shrewd lawyer who was responsible for her transfer, is on the opposing side.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

The film picks up seamlessly where the first installment left off. Judge Dr. Lena Kalbach has settled in well in Fulda after being transferred there as a punishment from Frankfurt am Main. She still lives in a house with her daughter Nike, though, as usual, there is tension between them. Lena and the court director, Dr. Kästle, are anything but fond of each other. He wants to get rid of Lena. This only encourages her all the more to stay at the Fulda District Court. In a new case, she has to rule that property tycoon Canninenberg’s eviction lawsuit against Christine Schrunz, a single mother who owns a shop, is justified. But Lena’s own sense of justice calls for a different verdict—especially since, on the opposing side, she is up against the shrewd lawyer Teddy Klein, who was responsible for her transfer to Fulda. Legally, however, Lena has no choice but to rule as she does, so Antonio Malvati, Christine Schrunz’s boyfriend, takes matters into his own hands. He is Italian and takes on the property tycoon using Italian methods. He knows that the only way to fight a fraudster is with fraud. He relieves Canninenberg of one hundred thousand euros, allowing his girlfriend to set up a new shop. Canninenberg immediately tries to sue Antonio Malvati, but fails for lack of evidence. Meanwhile, Teddy Klein flirts not only with Lena but increasingly uses his powers of seduction on Lena’s daughter Nike as well. Lena watches this with concern, since it is obvious that his efforts to win both women’s favor are merely a means to an end: gaining possible advantages with his clients.
