A group of young men find themselves entangled in a deadly situation after a debt dispute leads to the impulsive kidnapping of a teenager.

The story

In 1999, Johnny Truelove is a young drug dealer in the San Gabriel Valley. After a dispute over a debt, Johnny's gang of friends—including Frankie, Tiko, Elvis, and Jake—becomes involved in a volatile situation. When Jake fails to pay his debt, the group impulsively kidnaps his younger half-brother, Zack, intending to hold him until the debt is settled. The group takes Zack to Palm Springs, where an unlikely friendship forms between the boy and his captors. However, as the pressure of the crime mounts and the threat of legal consequences looms, the group's actions begin to spiral toward a tragic and irreversible conclusion.

In 1999, Johnny Truelove is a drug dealer in the San Gabriel Valley. After a dispute over a debt, Johnny's gang—Frankie, Tiko, Elvis, and Jake—becomes involved in a volatile situation. When Jake fails to pay his debt, the group impulsively kidnaps his younger half-brother, Zack, and takes him to Palm Springs. While at a house in Palm Springs, Zack forms an unlikely bond with Frankie. However, the situation escalates when Jake threatens the group. Facing potential life sentences, Johnny orders Elvis to kill Zack to eliminate the evidence. Despite Frankie's hesitation, the group eventually takes Zack into the mountains. After Zack realizes the danger and pleads for his life, Elvis shoots him and buries him in a grave. The film follows the aftermath: the gang members are eventually caught and sentenced to various prison terms, while Johnny remains at large for years before being captured in Paraguay in 2005.
