The story
Seven women and six men, ranging in age from their late 60s to their mid-80s, gather at Höltigbaum Manor in Hamburg-Rahlstedt for a speed-dating event. The participants include a retired teacher, a successful businesswoman, a former publisher, a gardener, a cleaner, a painter and his roommate, a former Russian officer, an amateur poet, an entrepreneur’s wife, a former museum attendant, a recent widower, and the organizer’s mother. For a fee of 50 euros, they have the opportunity to meet one another in seven-minute intervals. As each new pairing begins, the participants bring their different personal reasons for attending.
