Full plot (contains spoilers)
The Chipmunks and Chipettes host a surprise birthday and good luck party for Dave Seville. During a mini-golf date, the Chipmunks meet Dave's girlfriend Samantha and her son Miles, who torments them. After finding an engagement ring, the Chipmunks fear becoming Miles's siblings and set out to sabotage the proposal. Their flight to Miami ends in an emergency landing in Austin, Texas, where they encounter Air Marshal James Suggs, who puts them on the No-Fly List. After busking to reach New Orleans for a Mardi Gras parade, they are eventually caught by Suggs. Dave, who must produce a record for Ashley Grey in Miami, eventually finds them and forces them to drive him. In Miami, Alvin reveals he stole the ring. After a moment of bonding where Miles saves the Chipmunks from a car accident, they decide to return the ring. At a dinner, they return it to Dave, only to learn it belonged to his friend Barry. They eventually return the ring to Barry, and Dave officially adopts the Chipmunks as his sons, though he is left angry by the squirrels who destroyed his house.
