Full plot (contains spoilers)

In early 1988, a twelve-year-old girl kills serial killer Patrick Bateman with an ice pick after he attacks her babysitter. In 1993, the girl, now Rachael Newman, studies criminology at a Washington university. Seeking a teaching assistant position under Professor Starkman, she murders the secretary who rejected her and begins killing classmates. She murders Brian Leads, Cassandra Blaire (staging it as a suicide), and Keith Lawson. Dr. Eric Daniels, the school psychiatrist, tries to warn Starkman about Rachael but is mistaken for identifying Cassandra. Rachael eventually murders Starkman after he recognizes her wearing Cassandra's jewelry. Later, it is revealed that 'Rachael' is an imposter who killed the real Rachael at the start of the semester and assumed her identity. After a car chase ends in an explosion, the imposter is presumed dead. Two years later, Dr. Daniels gives a lecture on Rachael, only to find her alive. She reveals she killed Starkman's last assistant, Elizabeth McGuire, and stole her identity to enter the FBI Academy. It is revealed the body in the car was the real Rachael, kept in the killer's closet.
