The story
Fourteen-year-old Georgia Nicolson lives in Eastbourne and feels insecure about her appearance, fearing she will never find a boyfriend. When fraternal twin brothers Robbie and Tom Jennings move to town, Georgia and her friends Jas, Ellen, and Rosie become fascinated by them. Georgia and Jas approach the brothers at their mother's organic foodshop, where Jas becomes enamored with Tom and Georgia strikes up a conversation with Robbie. However, Georgia soon discovers that Robbie is dating Lindsay, the most popular girl in school and Georgia's archrival. To get closer to Robbie, Georgia begins a series of schemes to get his attention.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
Georgia Nicolson, a 14-year-old in Eastbourne, is desperate for a boyfriend. She meets the Jennings twins, Robbie and Tom. While Jas falls for Tom, Georgia targets Robbie, only to find he is dating her rival, Lindsay. Georgia creates a fake missing cat situation to bond with Robbie, but things go awry when Jas's cat is rescued by Tom instead. Meanwhile, Georgia's father moves to New Zealand, and her mother begins spending time with a new decorator, Jem. Georgia takes 'snogging lessons' from a classmate named Peter, but a public embarrassment leads her to lie about her sexuality to avoid him. After a brief romantic moment with Robbie in a pool, Georgia becomes heartbroken when he doesn't call. She tries to make him jealous by hanging out with his friend Dave, but Robbie cuts her off after learning of her manipulation. Following a falling out with Jas, Georgia plans to move to New Zealand but eventually apologizes to Robbie. On her 15th birthday, a surprise party is held where Robbie chooses Georgia over Lindsay, kissing her on stage. Georgia ultimately realizes she is enough as she is.
