A group of farm animals must navigate the complexities of a revolution and the subsequent rise of a tyrannical regime.
The story
After Farmer Jones fails to make mortgage payments, Manor Farm is repossessed and slated for sale to Pilkington Industries. The animals, led by the sow Snowball, believe they are being taken to a 'laughterhouse' but discover the truth and rebel against their human owners. They rename the property 'Animal Farm' and establish an autonomous government. However, the transition to self-governance is complicated by internal power struggles between Snowball and the boar Napoleon. As the animals struggle to manage the farm independently, they must navigate the demands of the bank and the looming threat of corporate takeover by the ruthless billionaire Freida Pilkington.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
Following the rebellion, Snowball and Napoleon are elected co-leaders. Napoleon eventually ousts Snowball and takes sole control, leading to a regime where the pigs live in luxury while other animals suffer. A young piglet named Lucky, mentored by Snowball, begins to question the regime's corruption. To satisfy the bank, the pigs establish a market and form an alliance with Freida Pilkington. Under the guise of 'progress,' Napoleon and his henchman Squealer manipulate the rules to favor the pigs, who begin behaving like humans. Lucky, encouraged by the cynical donkey Benjamin, eventually leads a rebellion. During a public demonstration for Pilkington's company, Lucky triggers a series of explosions that destroy the farm's infrastructure and Pilkington's interests. The resulting flood leads to the deaths of the primary antagonists, including Napoleon and Freida Pilkington. The remaining animals are left in control of the farm, looking toward an uncertain but hopeful future.
