Scott Lang and Hope van Dyne must navigate the perils of the Quantum Realm to face a multiversal threat.
The story
Following the Avengers's battle against Thanos, Scott Lang has become a successful memoirist and is living with his girlfriend, Hope van Dyne. Their daughter, Cassie, has become an activist and has a strained relationship with her father. While visiting Hope's parents, Hank Pym and Janet van Dyne, Cassie reveals she is working on a device to contact the Quantum Realm. When the device is activated, it creates a portal that pulls Scott, Cassie, Hope, Hank, and Janet into the Quantum Realm. There, they must navigate a strange new world and confront the forces within it while trying to find a way back home.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
After being pulled into the Quantum Realm, Scott and Cassie are found by rebels, while Hope, Janet, and Hank explore a city to find answers. They encounter Lord Krylar, who is now working for the realm's ruler, Kang the Conqueror. The group is forced to flee and steal a ship. Meanwhile, the Langs are warned by rebel leader Jentorra about Kang's rise to power. They are attacked by Kang's forces led by M.O.D.O.K. (Darren Cross). On the ship, Janet reveals her past dealings with Kang. Kang demands Scott retrieve his power core or he will kill Cassie. Scott enters a probability storm to find the core with Hope's help, but Kang captures Janet and destroys the ship with Hank. Hank's evolved ants help the group reach Kang. Cassie convinces Cross to switch sides, and he sacrifices himself. Janet fixes the core, and the group jumps through a portal home. At the last moment, Hope returns to help Scott defeat Kang by throwing him and the P.M. particles into the core, destroying them both. The film ends with the characters back home, while a mid-credits scene shows various Kang variants planning a multiversal uprising.
