The story
Marie-Laure, a mother of four young children, learns that the cancer ravaging her will leave her only a few months to live. Thinking about her children’s happiness and future, she is determined that they grow up together as one family. Her request to choose their future foster family is flatly refused by inflexible social services. Outraged but unwilling to give up, Marie-Laure turns to people close to her and the media to fight for the right to decide what will happen to her children after her death.

When Marie-Laure, the mother of four young children, suddenly learns that the cancer ravaging her will leave her only a few months to live, she can think only of her children’s happiness and their future. Determined that they should grow up together as one family, she comes up against the inflexibility of the social services, which flatly refuse her request. Outraged, Marie-Laure refuses to admit defeat. With the help of those close to her and the media, she wages a fierce battle for the right to decide what will happen to her children after her death, choosing their foster family herself.
