The story

Major Sloane murders Professor Ragheeb, an expert in ancient hieroglyphs at Oxford University, and steals a hieroglyph-encrypted message. Sloane then asks American professor David Pollock, who has taken over Ragheeb's class, to meet with shipping magnate Nejim Beshraavi on a lucrative business matter, but David declines. He is later approached by Hassan Jena, the prime minister of a Middle Eastern country, and his ambassador to the United Kingdom, Mohammed Lufti.
