A young woman’s search for her Prince Charming intertwines with a rational man’s growing fear of a predicted death.

The story

At 24, Laura still believes in Prince Charming. When Sandro, a young pianist and composer, appears just as she had dreamed, she thinks she has found the one and enjoys a wonderful romance with him, overlooking his slight stutter. Then she meets Maxime, a handsome, brooding music producer, and begins to wonder whether some princes are more charming than others. Meanwhile, at his own father’s funeral, Sandro’s father Pierre encounters Madame Irma, who reminds him of the date of his imminent death, which she predicted forty years earlier. Though rational, Pierre finds the prediction beginning to unsettle his certainties.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

At 24, Laura still believes in Prince Charming. When Sandro—a young pianist and composer—appears, exactly as she had dreamed, she thinks she has found the one, enjoys a wonderful romance with him, and pays little attention to his slight stutter. Soon, she meets Maxime, a handsome, brooding music producer. And she wonders whether some princes are more charming than others. At his own father’s funeral, Sandro’s father, Pierre, runs into Madame Irma, who reminds him of the date of his imminent death—the date she predicted forty years earlier. The idea begins to haunt him, and though he is a rational man, he gradually sees his down-to-earth certainties crumble. Laura’s aunt Marianne is trying at last to live independently after years of a marriage that recently ended. Her daughter Nina, unsettled by these changes in the family, is plagued by itching and turns to God. And Éléonore, Clémence, Jacqueline, Julien, and Guillaume have their problems too.
