Full plot (contains spoilers)
Bente, a lifeguard on Sylt, is once again taken away by the police because she is leading a demonstration against the gentrification of her home island. Bente is personally affected by Sylt’s exorbitant property prices: even her old little house is supposed to make way for a holiday-home development. The luxury project is being pushed forward by property manager Kevin Krämer, who combines a holiday on the island with his bored teenage daughter Lili with this job. At their first accidental encounter, Bente and Kevin realize they know each other from ninth grade. Back then, he was madly in love with her, but Bente read his love letter aloud to their entire class, giggling. Torn between his professional assignment and his feelings, Kevin becomes increasingly entangled in absurd lies, which Bente—now sincerely in love with him—painfully exposes.
