Full plot (contains spoilers)
The film begins with a 1990 incident where Naren Warne is lost and killed in the Backrooms. In the present, Clark, a struggling furniture store owner, discovers a portal in his shop's basement and enters the Backrooms. He eventually brings his employees, Kat and Bobby, into the dimension. During their exploration, Bobby is killed by an unseen entity. Later, Clark's therapist, Mary, enters the Backrooms after receiving a cryptic message. She finds a mutated, psychotic version of Clark who keeps her captive. She is eventually confronted by a towering, distorted 'Pirate' monster. After a violent struggle, she is rescued by a team of researchers from the Async Research Institute. The film concludes with Mary being interrogated by a scientist named Phil, who explains that the Backrooms are a distorted, flawed copy of reality, and she is left in a room with a silent, deformed simulacrum of herself.
