Two Miami narcotics detectives must recover stolen heroin while protecting a witness from a dangerous drug syndicate.

The story

Lifelong friends Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett are dedicated Miami Police narcotics detectives. Their lives are upended when $100 million worth of seized Mafia heroin is stolen from a secure police vault. Internal Affairs threatens to shut down the department unless the drugs are recovered within 72 hours. While investigating the theft, the pair must also protect a woman who witnessed a murder related to the heist. The detectives must navigate a web of informants, corrupt officials, and a dangerous drug kingpin to recover the drugs and clear their names before the deadline expires.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett are Miami narcotics detectives tasked with recovering $100 million of stolen heroin within 72 hours to prevent their department from being shut down. They encounter a woman, Julie, who witnessed a murder and is being hunted by a French drug kingpin, Antoine Fouchet. To keep their identities secret from the public, Mike and Marcus are forced by their captain to impersonate each other. They eventually discover that a local woman, Francine, is being blackmailed by the syndicate. The investigation leads them to a confrontation at the Miami-Opa Locka Executive Airport. During a final shootout, they defeat Fouchet's henchmen and rescue Julie. The film concludes with the pair successfully stopping the drug ring, though they are left exhausted and briefly handcuffed together before Marcus returns home to his wife.
