A stressed suburban mother finds an unexpected outlet for her frustrations after discovering her husband's infidelity.

The story

Amy Mitchell is a 32-year-old woman living in the Chicago suburbs who balances a demanding job as a coffee sales rep with the exhausting responsibilities of raising her children and participating in the school's PTA. Her life is upended when she discovers her husband's infidelity, leading her to quit the PTA in a public outburst. After a night of drinking with two other mothers—one a laid-back single mom and the other a stay-at-home mom—Amy decides to loosen up and start dating again. However, her quest for personal freedom quickly collides with the domineering leadership of the PTA's current president.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

Amy Mitchell, a suburban mother, is overwhelmed by her responsibilities until she discovers her husband Mike is cheating. After kicking him out, she publicly quits the PTA and meets Carla, a laid-back single mom, and Kiki, a stay-at-home mom. The three go on an all-night bender, inspiring Amy to start dating and loosen up. Amy begins seeing Jessie, a widowed father. When Gwendolyn, the domineering PTA president, penalizes Amy's daughter, Amy runs for PTA president. Despite a rival party hosted by Gwendolyn, Amy's party is a success. However, Gwendolyn retaliates by framing Amy's daughter, leading to a rift between Amy and her children. Amy is also fired from her job. Despondent but encouraged by Carla and Kiki, Amy gives an inspiring speech at the PTA election, winning by a landslide. She comforts Gwendolyn, who admits her life isn't perfect. Weeks later, Amy reconciles with her kids, her friends find balance in their parenting, and Amy regains her job with better pay. The film ends with the cast being interviewed with their real-life mothers.
