After an unexpected pregnancy complicates their reunion, Anna must weigh her future against the wishes of those urging her to keep the child.

The story

After Bogdan returns to Anna after four years, the pair decide to avoid each other, unaware that their brief reunion has left Anna pregnant. She plans an abortion, believing that a child, the farm, and memories of Bogdan cannot fit into the life she wants. Her grandmother Burgi secretly tells Bogdan about the plan, hoping to bring the couple back together. Meanwhile, Anna’s uncle Xaver persuades her to run for the local council, but campaigning does little to settle her personal dilemma. As Bogdan offers to take responsibility and those around Anna urge her to continue the pregnancy, she faces a choice that could reshape her future.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

After Bogdan returns to his beloved Anna after four years, they decide, for the sake of being sensible, to let their love run its course and avoid each other from then on. What Bogdan does not know, however, is that Anna became pregnant after their brief night together. She decides to have an abortion behind his back. A child, the farm, and the memories of her time with Bogdan are unimaginable to Anna. In secret, her grandmother Burgi calls Bogdan and tells him about the planned abortion. She hopes to give her granddaughter’s happiness a helping hand. She liked Bogdan from the first day they met and is firmly convinced that Anna and he belong together. But Anna wants none of it. To distract herself from her problems, she lets her uncle Xaver persuade her to run for the local council. In his opinion, her resolute manner is just what the community needs. But that does nothing to solve her problems. On the contrary, Anna finds herself increasingly caught in a bind, as everyone urges her to have the child and Bogdan is eager to take responsibility. But that is not an option for Anna: she has no intention of giving up her life for a child, and Bogdan has just secured a permanent position in Geneva—how could a child have a chance under those circumstances? After much back and forth, Anna eventually decides to have the child after all.
