Full plot (contains spoilers)
In the middle of divorce proceedings with Angèle, Jeff is struggling to stay in touch with his daughter Stella, who reproaches him for being rarely around because of his job as a police officer with the National Police’s anti-crime brigade. On the evening of Stella’s 16th birthday, he has to leave once again for work, much to his daughter’s dismay. She refuses to stay with him every other week, as they had agreed. But during the operation, nothing goes as planned. While chasing the gang’s leader across a footbridge at the zoo, Jeff is shot and falls into the zoo. When he comes out of his coma, he learns that a gorilla saved and treated him. After the accident, Jeff begins to hear animals think and speak. Hoping to rebuild his bond with Stella and persuade her to stay with him every other week, he gives her the gift she wanted most: a dog. Angèle agrees on the condition that the dog stays at Jeff’s apartment at all times. And so Jeff finds himself accompanied by a dog that talks to him constantly and becomes, in a way, a valuable police assistant, able to sense when someone is lying or hiding something…
