At a boarding school, young witch Bibi and a new friend search a hidden labyrinth for magical owl dust.

The story

After spending more time practicing witchcraft than studying math, Bibi Blocksberg is sent by her parents to Schloss Altenberg boarding school for the holidays. She fears a dull stay, but soon befriends David and Elea Mischnik, who has been paralyzed from the waist down since losing her parents in an accident. Bibi hopes to help Elea, though her magic has limits. She learns from the High Witch Walpurgia that magical dust from blue comfort owls might help, and that their remains are believed to lie in a labyrinth beneath the school. But Bibi and Elea are not the only ones looking for the elusive owl dust.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

During the previous school year, Bibi Blocksberg spent more time practicing witchcraft than studying math. Her grades reflect that. As a result, her parents, Barbara and Bernhard Blocksberg, decide to send her to the Schloss Altenberg boarding school for the holidays. Since Bibi is just entering puberty, she protests these plans vehemently. But all her protests are in vain, and Bibi fears she will have to spend many boring weeks at the boarding school. There, she makes two new friends: David, who falls in love with her, and Elea Mischnik, who lost her parents in an accident and has been paralyzed from the waist down ever since. Bibi wants to help Elea, but her magical powers are limited. From the High Witch Walpurgia, Bibi learns that blue comfort owls once existed. The magical owl dust might be powerful enough to enable Elea to walk again. And, of all places, the remains of the blue owls are supposed to be hidden in a labyrinth beneath Schloss Altenberg. But Bibi and Elea are not the only ones searching for the blue owls. The witch Rabia has escaped from the Spooky Moor, where she had been banished for five years because of what she did to Bibi (see the first film, Bibi Blocksberg), and she is still out for revenge against the Blocksbergs. She watches Bibi and quickly discovers her plans. Since the owl dust has enormous magical powers, Rabia wants to possess it too. School principal Quirin Bartels is searching for the Lomabarenir puzzle, which ultimately provides access to the owl dust, so he has the same goal. In an irony of fate, the blue owls can only be found by solving a complicated mathematical puzzle. But Elea is very good at math, and Bibi has also worked hard at it during her time at the boarding school, so the two of them solve the puzzle. Elea is then able to use the magical owl dust. It cannot heal her, but it comforts her by bringing a small owl statue to life, which stays by her side as a companion. The Witches’ Council strips Rabia of all her magical powers, and by the end of the film she is living as an ordinary old woman.
