The story

Jesper Jensen appears to have an ideal life as a successful salesperson at a modern IT company, but his unscrupulous sales tactics and confidence in his success precede a crash while he is under the influence of alcohol. His license is revoked, and he is sentenced to community service at a recycling center in North Zealand. He also loses his job, and his girlfriend moves out. Resenting the work as beneath him, Jesper arrives at the center convinced his prejudices about his new coworkers are confirmed.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

Jesper Jensen (Lindhardt) lives the perfect life as a rising salesperson at a modern IT company, in a modern house with a beautiful girlfriend. He often uses unscrupulous methods to meet his sales targets and is not the type to give much thought to other people. As a repeated holder of the title “Salesperson of the Month,” Jesper knows no defeat. But one evening, his sense of invincibility goes to his head, and he crashes his car while under the influence of alcohol. His driver’s license is revoked, and he is sentenced to community service at the local recycling center in North Zealand. He also loses his job, and his girlfriend moves out. Jesper cannot reconcile himself to the humiliating job, which in his opinion should be done by people with a lower intelligence level than his own, and all his prejudices are confirmed when he meets his new colleagues at the recycling center: the flighty Dion (Mick Øgendahl), the out-of-touch Lotte (Babett Knudsen), and the site’s nitpicking manager, Theodor (Lyby). But Jesper has to swallow his pride many times, because none of his new acquaintances can be dismissed as dim-witted. And when he takes a liking to a beautiful girl (Fagralid) who regularly stops by the recycling center, his new life suddenly becomes bearable. When the center is threatened with closure by the municipal inspector, Varberg (Malling), Jesper has to step up and, for the first time, fight for something other than himself.
