Two high school students become stranded on a deserted Caribbean island and must learn to survive together.
The story
Two high school students, Emma and Dean, travel to Trinidad on a class trip to help build a school. While at a boat party, Emma falls overboard and Dean rescues her into a dinghy. They inadvertently drift away from the party and end up on a deserted island in the Caribbean. After their dinghy is washed away by the tide, the two must rely on each other to survive. They begin to learn the basics of survival, such as building a fire and finding food, as they navigate their new reality alone.

Emma, a popular student, and Dean, a social loner, are on a school trip to Trinidad. During a boat party, Emma falls into the water and Dean rescues her into a dinghy, but they drift to a deserted Caribbean island. They must learn to survive by building fires and fishing. As they spend time together, their friendship evolves into a romantic relationship. Meanwhile, their families conduct a search for them. While on the island, they discover a human skeleton; Dean reveals he feels guilty over his mother's death, which he believes he caused. The couple eventually have sex and share intimate details about their lives and desires. After being stranded for over 100 days, they are rescued by a tourist helicopter. Upon returning to society, Emma gains popularity while Dean remains an outcast, causing strain on their relationship. At the prom, they eventually reconcile and resume their relationship.
