Two American tourists find themselves alone in a deserted Iceland after everyone else mysteriously vanishes.
The story
American tourists Jenai and Riley arrive in Iceland and visit several landmarks. Riley carries his father's vintage Rolleiflex camera, preferring to capture the imperfections of the moment. After a night at a local inn, they wake to find the world around them eerily silent. The streets are empty, stores are abandoned, and no one answers their calls. While the power and water remain functional, the local television stations broadcast only test signals. As they realize they are alone, the pair must navigate the deserted landscape, grappling with the mystery of the sudden disappearance of the local population while attempting to cope with their new, isolated reality.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
After discovering they are alone in Iceland, Jenai and Riley begin to experience different psychological reactions to the isolation. Riley remains optimistic, taking photos and scavenging supplies from abandoned stores, while Jenai sinks into depression. They encounter an old man named Nils, who reveals he survived alone in a nearby cabin. Following his death, the tension between the two grows as Jenai becomes obsessed with finding other survivors while Riley advocates for making the best of their current situation. The conflict culminates when Jenai, overwhelmed by the state of the world, is found by Riley in a geothermal pool, having drowned herself. Distraught, Riley initially attempts suicide before ultimately driving away alone.
