Two lifelong friends face off at their final building-village competition as school transitions pull them onto rival teams.
The story
Ziggy and Bas have been best friends for years, competing together to build the tallest tower in a hut-building village. Their current event is their final chance to win before they move on to secondary school. But the transition is widening a divide: Ziggy is headed for the pre-university track, while Bas is going to the pre-vocational track. At the building village, Bas turns away from his old partner and joins Edo’s crew. Ziggy tries to join as well, but must undergo an initiation, and the two friends’ plans for the competition begin to pull them into opposing camps.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
Ziggy and Bas have been best friends for years, and for years they have also been working together to build the tallest tower in a hut-building village. This year is their last chance to win the title one more time. After this year, they will move on to secondary school. Bas is struggling with the transition because Ziggy is going to the pre-university track, while he himself is going to the pre-vocational track. This also affects them during the building village event. Bas does not want to work with Ziggy and lets Edo persuade him to join his building crew. Ziggy tries to join too and has to go through an initiation. It then turns out that Edo never intended to let Ziggy join. Bas thinks his new friends are better than his old ones and stays on Edo’s team. Ziggy decides to work with his little brother instead. This puts lifelong friends Bas and Ziggy definitively at odds. When Ziggy uses planks that he and Bas had collected together before the building village event began, war breaks out between the two friends. But they do not fight this war by simply building; they resort to harsher measures such as kidnapping and even a nighttime battle in the woods with booby traps, which leads to an unexpected victim.
