The story
In early-1950s Czechoslovakia, Josef and Ctirad Mašín are growing up under communist rule while their mother, Zdena, refuses to conform. Their circumstances deteriorate further when the family is driven from its home and made to move into a dilapidated farmhouse. Inspired by the resistance history of their father, General Josef Mašín, the brothers become involved in armed resistance against the regime, bringing their group to the attention of the State Security Service.
