Bridget Jones must determine which of her two recent lovers is the father of her unborn child while keeping the truth from both men.

The story

On her forty-third birthday, Bridget Jones, a television producer, finds herself in a complicated situation after a series of romantic encounters. Following a one-night stand with a man named Jack and a passionate night with her long-time flame Mark Darcy, she discovers she is pregnant. The central conflict arises as she realizes she does not know which man is the father. As she navigates her pregnancy, she must manage the fact that both men are in her life—Mark, who is currently going through a divorce, and Jack, a wealthy mathematician. Bridget attempts to keep the two men apart while dealing with the complications of her new reality.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

After a series of romantic entanglements, Bridget Jones discovers she is pregnant and must figure out if the father is her long-time love Mark Darcy or a man she met at a music festival, Jack Qwant. She eventually reveals the truth to both men, leading to a period where they both care for her and the baby. The tension peaks when Mark and Jack become jealous of each other's bond with Bridget. After a series of misunderstandings and a dramatic moment where Bridget's water breaks while she is locked out in the rain, she gives birth to a boy named William. A year later, Bridget marries Mark, with Jack serving as the best man, and the story concludes with the revelation that her other ex, Daniel Cleaver, is actually alive.
