Bumerang - Bumerang (1989)

Four days before the state election, high school student Evi is nearly run over by Hans Reindl, a Bavarian state parliament member for the CSP. He gives her a lift in his car, where she discovers a pistol. On impulse, she kidnaps him, without knowing what she intends to do. She calls her friend Pit to see if he can make something of the situation (although Pit is romantically involved with Silvie). Pit looks up “brainwashing” in an encyclopedia, ties the politician up in a bathtub, leaves a tap dripping, and keeps reading aloud to him from a book for opponents of nuclear energy. Later, he plays him tapes he has recorded himself. Another of Evi’s friends, Johannes, arrives amid the increasingly hopeless situation. He is known as Bond because he constantly wears aggressively styled ties and makes quips, though he calls himself a theoretician. The young people have no idea how to turn their kidnapped politician to their advantage. He, on the other hand, knows exactly how. Through shaky dialectics, the kidnapping leads to him winning an absolute majority in the state election for the first time. The young people get themselves out of trouble with a trick, after the police, with Inspector Egli, have already begun their investigation. The politician’s tricks are meant to backfire on him.
