Two friends take jobs as busboys in a desperate attempt to improve their social status and financial situation.
The story
Markie Montgomery and his friend Steefen 'Steef' Barn are in dire financial straits while working for a septic service company. After a failed romantic proposal leads Markie to believe that becoming waiters will solve his problems, the two decide to seek work at a local restaurant. They are hired as busboys under a specific condition of secrecy following a bizarre misunderstanding with the manager. The two begin working hard to prove they are worthy of promotion to waiters, hoping to improve their lives and social standing.

Markie Montgomery accidentally hits a high school dropout named Steefen 'Steef' Barn with his car while working for a service that gives dying dogs final drives. Sixteen years later, the two are struggling financially working for a septic service company called 'We Suck.' After Markie's girlfriend, Pam, leaves him for a waiter, Markie and Steef decide to become busboys at a restaurant, believing that becoming waiters will restore Markie's status and win Pam back. They are hired after Markie has a strange sexual encounter with the manager. While working, they meet Murderball, a wheelchair-bound busboy who is secretly a drug kingpin. The duo begins selling a legal herbal supplement to a local drug dealer but are caught by an undercover DEA agent. The police eventually use them as informants, sending them back into the restaurant. During this time, Steef discovers Markie was responsible for the accident 16 years ago. Steef eventually discovers Murderball's secret drug lab in his RV and is captured. Markie also finds the lab and is captured. Before being executed by Murderball, Markie confesses the truth about the accident, and Steef forgives him. A gilded revolver shoots Murderball, revealing that Steef's father was the true kingpin. In the ensuing chaos, Steef's father, Markie, and Steef escape. Markie declines a promotion to waiter, choosing his friendship with Steef instead.
