Full plot (contains spoilers)
Mitchie Torres and her mother, Connie, return to Camp Rock for another summer, discovering a new rival, Camp Star, has opened nearby. After Camp Star attempts to lure Camp Rock's campers with a bonfire performance, several counselors defect. With the camp facing closure, Mitchie and her friends take on counselor roles to keep it running. During the events, Axel Turner, the founder of Camp Star, seeks to broadcast a competition between the two camps. Mitchie agrees, despite Brown's fears that losing would mean permanent closure. Tensions rise as Mitchie focuses on winning, causing friction with her boyfriend, Shane Gray, who wants to prioritize the campers' spirits. Meanwhile, Nate Gray bonds with Axel's daughter, Dana. At the competition, it is revealed that Axel spent exorbitant sums to rig the voting in his favor. Although Camp Star wins the competition, many of their members, including Tess and Dana, choose to join Camp Rock at the final bonfire, impressed by its culture. This ensures the camp's survival for another summer. Mitchie and Shane reconcile and share a kiss.
