The story
In 1995, Chuck Noland, a FedEx systems analyst who travels the world resolving productivity problems, is traveling with his girlfriend, Kelly Frears. Their relationship is strained by Chuck's demanding job. During a trip, Chuck's plane is caught in a severe storm and crashes into the Pacific Ocean, leaving him as the sole survivor. Chuck washes ashore on a deserted island where he must struggle to find food and water while dealing with the isolation of his predicament. He discovers various packages washed up on the shore, which he uses to improve his living conditions as he attempts to survive and find a way back to his life in Memphis.

Chuck Noland, a FedEx systems analyst, is stranded on a deserted island after his plane crashes in the Pacific Ocean. He survives for four years, befriending a volleyball he names Wilson and using various items from salvaged FedEx packages to survive. He eventually builds a raft and is rescued by a container ship. Upon returning to the United States, he learns that his girlfriend, Kelly, has moved on and is now married. He eventually travels to a sculptor's home to deliver a package with angel wings, finding peace in his journey. The film explores his isolation, his struggle for survival, and his eventual reconciliation with his past.
