The story
In Boulder, Gray Wheeler attends the funeral of her fiancé, Grady Douglas, on the day they were supposed to be married. Following his death, she finds herself navigating a complicated reality: she is not the beneficiary of his secret investments and must move in with his friends, including his best friend Fritz. As she settles into their home, Gray begins to uncover the hidden facets of Grady's life, including a mysterious monthly payment to an unknown person. Amidst the shared grief and the tension of living in close quarters, Gray must navigate her feelings for Fritz while unraveling the truth about the man she loved.

After the death of her fiancé Grady, Gray Wheeler moves in with his friends, Dennis and Sam, and his best friend, Fritz. While living together, Gray discovers Grady had a secret investment account she knew nothing about and was sending monthly payments to a woman named Maureen. Upon learning that Maureen has a young son, Mattie, Gray realizes Grady was leading a double life. Despite the complications, the group decides to get to know the child. During a trip to a river, tensions rise as Dennis confesses his feelings for Gray, who dismisses his concerns about her involvement with Fritz. Later, a DNA test reveals Mattie is not Grady's biological son. Gray eventually decides to help Maureen financially. At a memorial ceremony, the family's wealth is settled, and Gray finds solace in a final connection with Fritz.
