Ce que vivent les roses (2018)

On her way to see Dr. Simon, a plastic surgeon, about a minor problem concerning her daughter Romane, Cathy Macquart crosses paths with a young woman who looks exactly like Suzanne Girardin, the doctor’s own daughter, who was murdered in her home five years earlier. A few minutes later, another young woman with identical features comes out of the office. Cathy is none other than the prosecutor who argued against Julien Girardin at the trial where he was found guilty of murdering his wife, Suzanne, and sentenced to eighteen years in prison. Could Suzanne still be alive? Does she have lookalikes? Intrigued, Cathy considers asking for the case concerning the murder to be reopened. She quickly encounters strong opposition from those around her, both at home and at work, and finds help only from Alexandre Darson, Girardin’s lawyer. Meanwhile, Yahn Quemener, a lawyer and Cathy’s ex-husband, discovers that his new father-in-law, Alain Delambre, is facing prosecution over rigged contracts in the awarding of the construction project for a new school. Delambre, the town’s mayor, is a contemptuous and manipulative man who has no scruples about satisfying his ambitions. He orders Yahn to cover up the problem at any cost. The two cases soon become intertwined.
